'MEMENTISMO’ (manifesto) Copyright 2002 Enrique Sierra & Sildius Krecu
The word ‘MEMENTOS’ / MEMENTO (reminder) came to the artists
Enrique Sierra, and Silvius Krecu during a coffee meeting in South Beach, on
December 15th, 2002; it came from the movie Memento, directed by
Christopher Nolan, starring Guy Pearce, Carrie-Anne Moss, Joe Pantoliano,
Mark Boone Junior. In this meeting, the two artists defined the concept of
‘MEMENTOS’ cyber painting.

DEFINITION OF ‘MEMENTOS’
Any action that is filled up by moments. In each moment we have the ability
to select or choose our next step (action). ‘MEMENTOS’ is the accumulation
of moments, in which each moment remains intact.

In ‘MEMENTOS’, we have the ability to show the creation of the artistic
process from the inception of the idea to the final creation and the in-
between. The process is revolutionary in itself. In an exhibition of the
‘MEMENTOS’, the viewer will see the actual creation. By doing so the
viewer will get involved into the process of creation and not just the end point.

’MEMENTOS’ is an invitation to an everyday person to look at the process of
the creation. Go through the creation /destruction/creation process and the
final outcome through the eyes of the artist and the technology of today.

In a conventional painting the destruction part of the creation process is lost
in order to achieve a new creation, while in ‘MEMENTOS’, nothing will be
lost, people will benefit from the whole process of the creation.
